Understanding the physiology of black poplar seeds: long- and short-lived genotypes from the CREA-FW collection.

The CREA-FW and UNIPV Teams have joined their efforts to investigate the long-term response of a set of black poplar clones in terms of seed viability. For each clone, catkins freshly collected at the CREA-FW site, arrived in Pavia. Giulia Doro, working at her Master thesis in Experimental and Applied Biology under the supervision of Anca Macovei and Shraddha Shridhr Gaonkar, started to clean the plant material and extract the seeds from the fruits. She is very enthusiastic and curious to see the germination profiles of these 2026-seed lots, and to compare them with the performance observed for the 2025-seed lots, gathered one year ago.
