Antonello Franca and Francesca Serralutzu from ISPAAM-CNR (Sassari) have selected a set of genotypes from their impressive collection of orphan legume species and sent the seeds to Anca Macovei (UNIPV) for an in-depth study of their resilience potential at the level of germination. Together with Shraddha Shridhar Gaonkar, post-Doc funded by FORECAST, Anca is setting the experimental plan to explore the physiological and molecular bases of such resilience. This will provide the baseline for the subsequent most affective association of orphan legumes with the existing agroforestry systems.
