Looking at the Algerian pilot site for the FORECAST experimental activities

Team members sampling vegetation and soil in a traditional olive-based agroforestry system.

The Team of the University of Constantine, led by Aziz Benhamrouche, has started the work at the FORECAST pilot site. Within the forest matrix, an agricultural plot planted with olive trees and managed in a traditional mode represents the experimental site for testing the efficacy of resilient orphan legumes.

A multidisciplinary approach combining field observations and surveys, in-situ sampling and analysis, as well as geospatial analysis using GIS, will provide a whole picture of the way the FORECAST innovative solutions will improve the performance of this local agroforestry system.
